Horsham Churches Night Shelter is a response to homelessness in the Horsham District and a practical demonstration of the love of God intended to make a long term change for good in the lives of our guests. Our goal is to provide safe, emergency accommodation and food to homeless people in the Horsham District, and to assist in improving our guests’ long term situation in view of their physical and spiritual needs.

The Shelter provides free accommodation for up to ten locally connected homeless people. Last winter the Shelter opened on 1st December and run until 15th March 2018. The accommodation is provided in a different church each night of the week and the Shelter is run by a team of volunteers. Guests also receive a hot meal, usually cooked on site by volunteers, and volunteers are encouraged to eat with and spend time with the guests after the meal when a variety of activities may be offered

We are running the Night Shelter again this year for its sixth year of operation. We will be once again be opening the doors of local churches from the 1st December 2018 through to the 15th March 2019. To run this operation smoothly requires a lot of help from volunteer members of the team, if you think this is something you can help with then please contact Emma Elnaugh on 0300 124 0204 or email at [email protected]

For clients wanting to access the Night Shelter they must be referred through the Horsham Outreach Worker, Louise  who can be reached on [email protected] The referral deadline is 2pm so in order to be admitted to the Shelter that evening clients must ensure they make contact with Louise promptly .

A comment from one of the volunteers sums it all up –
“Homelessness will never be solved but being able to help people when they are at rock bottom in their life is truly a wonderful thing to have done …just to be able to provide a meal, warm bed and some good conversation.”

If you are interested in donating towards the cost of the night shelter, you can do so by calling Emma on 0300 124 0204 or [email protected].
