What you can donate

We gladly accept donations of good quality furniture, electrical items, household goods and other items in a suitable condition to sell on. Whilst we fully accept items will show signs of use, we can’t accept items that are damaged, dirty/stained or incomplete because we can’t pass them on to other people. If you’re unsure about whether it will be useful or not, a simple rule of thumb is if you saw the item in a second-hand store, would you consider buying it.

All upholstered items must have fire retardant labelling attached to it – this is not us being awkward it is a legal requirement, with which we are obliged to comply. For details of what these look like you can see the details of the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety regulations here.

Please drop off any items from the list below at our Donation Centre in Blatchford Road (map here) between 9:30am and 3.30pm Tuesday to Saturday.

If you arrive when we are closed, please don’t leave items outside as they invariably get damaged and then we have the expense of taking them to the tip to dispose of them. On one occasion one well meaning donor left a wardrobe under cover in front of our entrance doors and one of our staff who was working in the back of the warehouse at the time was unable to get out of the building when she tried to leave!
